Widnes Vikings can provide an injury update on several members of the first team squad ahead of Saturday’s Betfred Challenge Cup third round tie against Wests Warriors.
Winger Ryan Millar has undergone surgery on a bicep injury sustained during last month’s 26-18 victory at home to Keighley Cougars.
While awaiting a date for surgery, Millar made the decision to continue to play. He has gone on to score five tries in as many matches for the Vikings this season.
Millar is expected to be sidelined for up to eight weeks.

Half-back Tom Gilmore has undergone successful surgery on a pectoral injury and is in the early stages of his rehabilitation.
Another player who has also gone under the knife is Max Roberts, who successfully underwent ankle surgery earlier this week. He will now begin early rehabilitation in the coming days.
Forward Owen Farnworth is continuing his graded return to training following illness.
The 24-year-old is progressing well, and the club expects him to be available for our Good Friday clash against Swinton Lions next month.

Hooker Jordan Johnstone is due to return to the squad this week following a flare-up of an old shoulder problem.
Winger Ollie Brookes is also progressing well in his rehabilitation following a hamstring injury sustained in pre-season, and he is expected to return to the squad this week.
Finally, Kieran Dixon continues to recover from the illness which saw him miss last weekend’s defeat to Sheffield Eagles.
He is unlikely to feature against Wests Warriors this weekend, but should return for our return to Betfred Championship action against Toulouse Olympique on Saturday 18 March.
