Widnes Vikings can confirm that tickets for our pre-season friendlies against Castleford Tigers and North Wales Crusaders are now available online, for both home and away supporters.
Supporters are encouraged to purchase online to help the club implement a new ticketing system, which gives you the chance to use your mobile device or print tickets at home.
Along with ticketing provider Crowdr, the club have worked hard to develop this new system, with each ticket including a single use QR code which will be scanned by turnstile operators to admit entry. This, in turn, will help cut the queues at the Ticket Window on match days and make tickets more accessible via our online platforms.
Supporters will receive an E-Ticket via email, and are encouraged to check their Junk and/or Spam folder.
When booking tickets, supporters will be given the option to add a Member Discount. This does not apply for Friendly fixtures, so supporters are asked to disregard this and instead click on ‘PROCEED TO CHECKOUT’ and either login to the online system if you already have an account or register a new account.
Through this, the club are hoping to boost ticket sales and increase attendances during the 2020 season, while also improving the club’s marketing potential.
Thanks to the new ticketing platform, the club will be able to analyse trends and patterns of non-Season Ticket holding supporters. This, in turn, will help to build a database of fans that the club can actively target for ticket sales throughout the season, and in future attempt to convert those more casual supporters into Season Ticket holders.
Printed tickets will still be available to collect from the Ticket Window on matchdays for supporters without the capacity to print at home or use their mobile as a ticket, however tickets will no longer be sent out via post.
Paper tickets will also be available from the Club Shop in due course, with full information to be released separately.
During the pre-season fixtures against both Castleford Tigers and North Wales Crusaders the ticketing system, featuring the new QR codes, will be utilised for the first time. Ultimately, there may be some initial teething problems while implementing this new system, however the patience of the club’s supporters will help make this change as seamless as possible.
Both pre-season fixtures were originally set to be unallocated seating within the South Stand, however all tickets will now be allocated, with the North Stand closed for both games.
Hospitality will be available for both fixtures, with further information to be announced in due course.
As a club, the Vikings are actively trying to improve the matchday experience of supporters, with the improvement of the online ticketing system the first step in this process.
