Widnes Vikings can reveal that a FREE pilot rugby league camp will take place at the DCBL Stadium on Thursday 3rdand Friday 4th June – aimed at getting youngsters involved with the club and the sport.
Jack Owens, Danny Craven and Matty Smith will lead the sessions, providing an engaging, fun and educational experience for everyone involved.
Sessions will run 9am-12pm, with both days including an opportunity for those participating to take part in a Q&A with the players, as well as developing a number of skills to use in game-related activities.
We have opened up 80 free spots, 40 for each day, which will be given out on a first come, first served basis to Community Club registered youngsters between the age groups of u10s and u13s.
The event is a pilot project and is part of the club’s strategy to engage more youngsters from our local community of Halton with sport, physical activity and Widnes Vikings.
Participation in this initial session is limited to those currently registered with community clubs within Halton, and registration is now live via the below link.
The club will use information and learnings gathered from the initial two sessions to shape an offer that we will hope to extend to all age groups, and to youngsters not currently registered with community clubs.
This will then allow us to make an informed decision of the type of activities and services we will implement to help us achieve our long-term goal of engaging with as many local children as possible.
Offering youngsters the opportunity to engage with Widnes Vikings is hugely important, now more than ever, and ultimately the end goal is to have as many young boys and girls involved in the sport locally as possible.
Seeing young faces back in the crowd for our fixture with Whitehaven was a brilliant feeling for everyone involved with the club, and we want to see even more youngsters being introduced to the Vikings over the coming weeks, months and years.

Key Information:
- Thursday 3rd June – under 10s & under 11s camp (40 children max.)
- Friday 4th June – under 12s & under 13s camp (40 children max.)
- Sessions will run 9am-12pm at the DCBL Stadium
- Sessions will be led by Jack Owens, Matty Smith and Danny Craven
- Please ensure your child wears appropriate clothing and boots, and also brings a bottle of water and snack
- All Staff and Players will be Covid tested before delivering the camp, and all Covid Guidelines will be adhered to
- Please note, due to Covid Guidelines in place, parents/guardians will not be able to stay and watch however drop-off will be open from 8:30am
