FOZARD LEADS WALES IN SECOND TEST AGAINST IRELAND

Widnes Vikings hooker Matty Fozard captained Wales for the second time on Saturday as they faced Ireland at The Millennium Stadium in Featherstone.

After first being handed the captaincy in last weekend’s 24-0 victory at The Gnoll in Neath, Fozard again led his country, this time in a tough 36-12 defeat against Ireland.

The occasion marks another proud milestone in Fozard’s international career, with the decision to appoint him as captain for back-to-back fixtures reflecting the esteem in which he is held within the Wales set-up.

Fozard will now return to Widnes as the squad continues preparations for the 2026 pre-season, with the hooker set to link back up with the Vikings next week.

Everyone at Widnes Vikings congratulates Matty on the continued recognition at international level and looks forward to welcoming him back ahead of the new campaign.
