FORMER VIKINGS PLAYER JOINS WHEELCHAIR TEAM

The Widnes Vikings Wheelchair Team is pleased to welcome former reserves and academy player Kieran Lacey to the team.

Kieran joins us from Warrington and adds Super League experience to the squad.

Starting in the mid-1990s, Kieran played Rugby League for over two decades representing both professional and amateur sides. He featured for the Vikings ‘A-team’, also going on to play for Chorley Lynx.

Lacey said: “After being a Chemic in the early days of my playing career, I’m really happy to rejoin the club now and use what I have learned to help us grow and push the wheelchair team towards playing in the Super League.

“I’m really looking forward to the new challenges at Widnes and hopefully learning new skills which will help me improve my game.”

Lacey took up WhRL 18 months ago because it allows him to play competitive rugby still, be part of a team, and stay fit.

We actively encourage anyone else who has reluctantly retired from the game to come down to training on Fridays (6pm-8pm) at Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes.

Welcome to the family Kieran, we are delighted to have you on board and feel your experience and knowledge will be a great asset to the wheelchair squad.
