ADAM LAWTON RETURNS TO THE VIKINGS

Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce the immediate signing of Adam Lawton until at least the end of 2026.

Lawton, 32, came through the Widnes academy system, going on to make 90 appearances for the club, scoring 44 tries.

Having initially returned to the club in May on loan, the towering forward pens a permanent deal that will include triggers for 2027.

He impressed most recently in the Vikings’ 24-4 victory over Toulouse at the DCBL Stadium, crossing for a remarkable hat-trick.

On his return, Lawton said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be back. Even just in these last few weeks, I’ve been loving my rugby again.

“I’m very appreciative that I was given the chance to come back on loan. So, the fact that I was offered a permanent deal to stay here, I’m just over the moon.

“This is the place I want to be, and it’s where I want to finish my career.”

Head Coach Allan Coleman commented: “I’m over the moon to get Adam back, obviously he’s been with us for a few weeks on loan, but to get him in permanently is huge.

“He loves the club, and I think he’s shown in his performances how much it means to him to play for Widnes.

“I think you’ve seen what he adds to our pack in the games he’s played this season, so it’s brilliant to get the deal done.”

Signings like this are made possible due to the fantastic Widnes VIPS scheme in place to assist in strengthening the Vikings’ squad. If fans wish to sign up for the scheme, they can do so here.
