Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce the signing of Australian Centre Liam Williams from Melbourne Storm until the end of the 2027 season, with the option for a further year in 2028.
The 22-year-old made 20 appearances in the Storm’s NSW Cup side in 2026, scoring seven tries in the process.
On signing for the Vikings, Williams said: “I’m super excited to join a club with such a rich history and such passionate supporters.
“I’m really looking forward to getting over there and getting straight to work, there’s a strong foundation at the club at the moment so hopefully I can just come in and add to that.
“Hopefully I can add some energy and skillset to the group, they had such a great season last year so hopefully we can build on that and win some silverware for the club, which is what the fans deserve.
“Speaking with Allan (Coleman) definitely put me in more of a position to come, you can definitely see the care he has for his players which is really pleasing for me.”
Head coach Allan Coleman said: “He’s a really exciting player with bags of ability, a real natural, right-sided centre, he’s real tough and aggressive defensively whilst also offering a lot of options in attack.
“Most importantly he was very keen to come, he’s highly thought of at Melbourne Storm, and I think maybe they see him in the future, but they see it’s very important for his development to be able to come over and play in this competition.
“I”m absolutely over the moon and I’d like to thank everybody for their hard work in getting it done.”
