Widnes Vikings return to Betfred Championship action this Sunday (3pm kick-off) as they travel to face Hunslet at the South Leeds Stadium.
Sitting fifth in the table after 10 victories and three losses thus far, Allan Coleman’s men will be brimming with confidence after an incredible run of eight straight victories since an 18-8 defeat to Barrow Raiders on May 3.
Even more encouragingly, Vikings have notched 98 unanswered points in their recent thrashings of Rochdale Hornets (52-0) and Dewsbury Rams (46-0), and they will be hoping to maintain this momentum ahead of Sunday’s trip to West Yorkshire.

📰 Squad news
There is just one change to the 21-man squad following last weekend’s victory over Rochdale Hornets.
Half-back Danny Richardson, who joined the Vikings earlier this week, will go straight into contention to make his debut for his hometown club this Sunday, replacing Jack Houghton.

🥊 The opposition
Hunslet secured a vital 22-12 win against close rivals Salford last time out, leapfrogging above them to 14th in the Championship table. This stopped the rot of four successive defeats for Kyle Trout’s team, including heavy beatings at the hands of Newcastle Thunder, London Broncos and Workington Town.
That result was their second victory on home soil in 2026, and they will be keen to build momentum heading into a tough period that will see them face three of the division’s top five, beginning with the visit of the Vikings on Sunday.
Hunslet 19-man squad: Dan Abram, Mo Agoro, Luca Atkinson, Eddie Battye, Cam Berry, Liam Carr, Lee Gaskell, Harrison Gilmore, Alfie Goddard, Charlie Graham, Harvey Hallas, Myles Harrop, Ben Johnson, Billy Jowitt, Ethan O’Hanlon, Darcy Simpson, Elijah Simpson, Jack Ward, Jimmy Watson.
⏪ Record against Hunslet
The reverse fixture between the two sides at the DCBL Stadium back in March ended in a hard-fought 32-26 win for the Vikings. A pulsating contest witnessed twelve tries, including two each for full-back Nathan Connell and second-row Max Roberts. Hunslet threatened to force a victory late on, but the Vikings did enough to hold on.
In the side’s previous ten meetings, Widnes have lost only one and won the other nine. You have to go back to September 1999 for Hunslet’s last home victory against the Vikings, a 10-8 triumph in the Northern Ford Premiership play-offs, which they went on to win.
Last five meetings:
- Widnes 32-26 Hunslet (Championship R6, 8/3/26)
- Widnes 40-12 Hunslet (Championship R24, 31/8/25)
- Hunslet 14-28 Widnes (Championship R9, 04/5/25)
- Hunslet 26-28 Widnes (1895 Cup R1, 02/3/25)
- Hunslet 22-24 Widnes (Championship R15, 03/7/11)
