Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce that Liam Bent has signed a new two-year deal that will keep him with the club until the end of 2027.
The news was first broken last night to the supporters who attended our Vikings Voice forum at the DCBL Stadium.
Bent, 27, signed for the Vikings ahead of 2022 and has gone on to make 62 appearances, scoring one try.
He has appeared in 18 of our 22 competitive fixtures this season and has started our last six games since returning from injury in June.
On his new deal, Bent said: “I’m really honoured to sign here for another two years. The club is massive for me, and the fans have always been fantastic.
“The coaching staff and the fans were a massive part in my re-signing here. This is such a big club, with a massive history, so it was a no-brainer for me to stay.”
Head Coach Allan Coleman said: “I’m over the moon to keep Liam. It was nip and tuck at one point, and we thought we were going to lose him, but thankfully, we got the deal done.
“We love having him, and I think everyone will have seen in his performances recently that he thoroughly deserves it. He’s really stood up as one of the leaders in our pack this season, and I think he’s improved in all areas of his game.
“He’s been our man of steel in recent weeks, doing some massive minutes, and we’d be lost without him.”
Liam is sponsored by Harold Prescot & Sons LTD for 2025.
Retentions like this are assisted by the fantastic Widnes VIPS scheme in place to assist in strengthening the Vikings’ squad. If fans wish to sign up for the scheme, they can do so here
Everyone at the club is delighted to see Benty extend his stay and can’t wait to see him pulling on the jersey for the next two years.
