Head Coach Allan Coleman has named his first 21-man squad for Sunday’s 1895 Cup opener against Swinton Lions at Heywood Road, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.
Sunday’s contest will be Coleman’s first competitive game in charge of the Vikings as the lads look to kick off their 1895 Cup campaign with a win.
Jack Owens is unavailable after breaking his hand in last week’s friendly with Warrington, with the Vikings captain set to miss 4-6 weeks.
Callum Field returns to the squad after missing our three pre-season fixtures with a calf problem, as does Liam Kirk who returns after missing last week’s friendly with Warrington.
Harvey Wilson, on loan from Wigan, is included in his first competitive matchday squad, as is Tom Whitehead, who returns on dual-registration from Warrington.
One of the Viking’s Vice-Captains, Callum Field or Rhodri Lloyd will have the chance to captain the team in the opening game of the season.
