2024 END OF SEASON AWARDS NIGHT

Catch up on all the awards and announcements from Wednesday’s End of Season Award Night for 2024.

Jordan Johnstone was the big winner at the Vikings’ 2024 Season Presentation Night, picking up the Fans Player, Coaches Players, and Players’ Player of the Year Awards in an action-packed evening at the DCBL Stadium.

The first award of the night was our Chairman’s Award, which was given to Jeannie Thompson for her outstanding volunteer work with the club.

After a two-course meal, we announced the players that would be departing the club.

Callum Field, Sam Wilde, Lloyd Roby, Shane Grady, Sam Brooks, and Ollie Brookes will move on to pastures new in 2025.

We welcomed Callum Field and Sam Wilde onto the stage to explain their decisions to move on from the club as they reflected on their favourite memories with the Vikings.

Next up was the 2024 Man of Steel Award, in association with DCBL, given to a player who defines toughness and grit on the pitch. The winner was none other than… Mike Butt.

After a short refreshments break, we were back with the final three awards of the evening.

The Players’ Player of the Year, in association with ACS, was presented by Captain Jack Owens to Jordan Johnstone, who has enjoyed an impressive season in 2024.

‘JJ’ was soon called back to the stage as Head Coach Allan Coleman presented the hooker with the Coaches’ Player of the Year Award for 2024, in association with Compere Systems.

The final award of the evening was our Fans Player of the Year, in association with Graphfit. We’ve been asking YOU to vote for your Man of the Match after every game in 2024.

Going back through those poll results from February onwards, we totted up the rankings of each survey and awarded points as such.

It was a close one but Jordan Johnstone edged out Mike Butt and Matty Fozard to pick up his third award of the evening.
