Vikings prop Will Tilleke has announced his retirement from the game.
Tilleke, 24, who has played 40 times for the club scoring 2 tries, with another 5 appearances on loan and dual registration, announced his decision last week to the coaches and players.
Will made his Vikings debut on the 21st of March 2021 in a 58-4 win over West Wales Raiders in the Challenge Cup.
He said: “I would like to thank everyone at the club for the opportunity they have given me over the years.
“Widnes gave me the chance to fulfill my childhood dream and gave me friends for life.
“I would like to thank Allan and the lads for understanding my decision and wish them all the best for the future.”
Allan Coleman said: “It is always a sad time when somebody leaves in these circumstances, but Will made his own decision and came to let me know.
“We respect the choice he has made but still look forward to seeing him in the future.”
Head of Operations Chris Hamilton said: “This was completely out of the blue, and we are sorry to see Will go.
“He has made the decision, however, and we wish him all the best. He has a good job and feels now is the time to concentrate on that.
“Will and his family, will be our guests at the Doncaster game on Sunday and he will be our Community Champion, presenting the match ball to the referee ahead of kick off. This will give all the Vikings fans the chance to show their appreciation for all his efforts on behalf of the club over the years.
“He has already said he will still be coming to games, and we look forward to seeing him.”
Everyone at the club would like to thank Will for his efforts over the years and wish him all the best for the future.
