Biography

Born in St Helens Sam played his junior rugby for Shevington Sharks, joining the Warrington Scholarship programme at the age of 15 and progressing through the ranks to represent England U18s in their victory against Australia. Acknowledging the support of his family as the major influence on his career Sam names his career highlights to date as his senior debut for Warrington against Wigan in 2015, his appearance in the 2016 Grand Final, and playing for Widnes at Wembley in the 1895 Cup Final. Sam’s Vikings’ debut came in the 2017 ‘Magic’ fixture before finishing the season on loan with London Broncos. He returned to Widnes in 2018, joining the ill-fated Ottawa club for 2021, and subsequently spending the season with Newcastle. 2023 saw Sam pass 150 career points and 150 career games in addition to 100 appearances and 100 points for the Vikings. His ambition is to take Widnes to the play-offs and contend for promotion. Away from rugby ‘Wildey’ enjoys surfing and is a keen supporter of Liverpool FC, the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, and the NBA’s Miami Heat.
