Born in Manchester Mike played rugby union with Broughton Park from the age of 4 until he was 18, switching to rugby league when he attended Salford City College and Manchester Metropolitan University, and following a successful trial he joined Swinton Lions in 2015. He names his family as a major influence on his career to date while also paying tribute to all the coaches he has played under, in both Union and League. He cites the World Cup match against the Cook Islands as his career highlight to date in addition to having scored 1 try in his 4 caps for Wales. Former England Universities representative 'Butty' states his ambition as continuing to enjoy playing the game, adding that he does not set himself goals, preferring to face each challenge as it comes. Away from rugby he enjoys an occasional round of golf and works as a Regional Manager for an Events company based in Manchester.
