Widnes Vikings would like to inform supporters of a change to seating arrangements at today’s fixture against Oldham RLFC at Bower Fold.
Due to the brilliant response from supporters to tickets being on sale over the last two weeks, Oldham have made the decision to open the Lord Tom Pendry Stand to facilitate the travelling black and white army.
Given that over 700 tickets have been sold by the Vikings in advance of today’s season opener, our opponents have been forced to open a stand that is very rarely in use because of the brilliant level of support shown by our fans.
All Vikings supporters who have purchased a seating ticket will now be seated in the Lord Tom Pendry Stand, with those who have purchased standing tickets given the option to upgrade to seating.
For supporters wishing to drive to the game, parking is very limited at Bower Fold and Oldham have also advised travelling supporters to park away from the ground where possible.
On Saturday evening, the club released the 2020 Attendance Targets ready for the start of the Betfred Championship campaign, setting the target of 5,000 advance ticket sales for away fixtures.
Ahead of our opening fixture of the season, and first away game of the campaign, we have already reached 14% of that target, an incredible achievement which is testament to our loyal supporters.
The club would like to take this opportunity to thank supporters for visiting the Club and Stadium Shop in their numbers to purchase tickets for today’s season opener. With Widnes Vikings receiving 20% of all advanced ticket sales for away fixtures, this support has also significantly benefitted our club financially.
This afternoon is a brilliant opportunity for our fans to showcase how important this club is to our new recruits and our new Head Coach, Tim Sheens.
All of our players and staff appreciate the support they will receive this afternoon, and we hope to hear the black and white army in full voice come 3pm today.
