Widnes Vikings interim head coach Neil Belshaw says his players got their rewards for a confidence-filled display against Bradford Bulls.
Despite entering the game in a poor run of form, the Vikings made it a Monday night to remember as they toppled the Bulls 31-14 at the DCBL Stadium.
Kieran Dixon scored in either half, while Matty Fozard, Adam Lawton and Ollie Brookes also added tries of their own to help seal a comprehensive victory.
Speaking to Viaplay Sports post-match, Belshaw said: “I’m delighted for the lads, they really earned that.

“I thought that last week, we were halfway there [with our performance]. We didn’t quite get the result, but the signs were there and they got the rewards for all their effort this week.
“We tried to do what we feel we’re good at as a team – not get drawn into a battle up the middle and keep the ball moving a little bit.
“We knew Bradford might tire if we did that, and despite a few errors in the first half, we got the rewards later on with the tries at the end.”
With fixtures to come against Keighley Cougars, Whitehaven, and Newcastle Thunder over the next few weeks, Belshaw is hopeful that the Bradford win will act as a turning point in the club’s season.

“I definitely hope so,” he admitted.
“Last week was about building our confidence back to where it was. We felt we could’ve got a result last week, and fair play to the lads for backing themselves again tonight.
“Even when we were in front, we felt that Bradford had never really gone away, they were still coming at us. It was brilliant, a great feeling [to get the win].
“Hopefully it gets our season back on track. We’re three points off the play-offs, which is what we’re still aiming for, most definitely.”
