Widnes Vikings are delighted to announce that Mike Butt has signed a new two-year deal that will keep him with the club until the end of 2026.
Butt, 29, joined the club from Swinton Lions ahead of 2024, alongside Head Coach Allan Coleman.
He has made 20 appearances so far this season, scoring nine tries, behind only Matty Fozard (10).
On his new deal, Butt said: “I’m buzzing. Getting a contract here in the first place was a privilege, so to get it extended, I’m over the moon.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute I’ve been here, all the boys have been brilliant and this is a club I’m proud to be playing for.
“We’re in the playoff spots at the moment, we’ve just got to keep pushing and secure that position.”
He added: “The fans have been brilliant so far. Getting a little song is always nice. I’ll just have to keep scoring tries so they carry on singing it.”
Head Coach Allan Coleman said: “Keeping hold of Butty was a no-brainer. I brought him to the club when I came here and I think the fans can see why I did that.
“He brings so much energy and he’s got a brilliant work ethic.
“He is Widnes through and through now, he’s bought into the club and has become a big fan favourite.
“To keep both him and Ryan Ince was brilliant for the club because I think they’re two of the best in the competition in their positions.”
This is assisted by the fantastic Widnes VIPS scheme in place to assist in strengthening the Vikings’ squad. If fans wish to sign up for the scheme they can do so here
Everyone at the club is delighted to see Butty extend his stay and can’t wait to see him at the DCBL Stadium over the next two seasons!
