A former pupil at Sts Peter and Paul Owen played his junior rugby with local clubs West Bank Bears and Halton Farnworth Hornets before joining the Vikings’ Scholarship programme at the age of 15. Crediting the Bears’ coaches Ben and Graham Walker as the biggest influence on his career to date he progressed through the Academy structure to play for the club’s Under 16 and Under 19 sides. The 6ft 4in winger named his try-scoring Super League debut against Hull FC as his career highlight while holding the joint ambitions of winning silverware with the Vikings and gaining International recognition. In his breakthrough year of 2018 Owen scored 3 tries in 8 appearances for the Vikings with a single outing for partner club North Wales Crusaders. Having completed his BTEC National Diploma in Sport ‘Buckers’ spends his time away from rugby socialising and supporting Liverpool FC.
