Matt Cook

Born in Warrington Matt attended Rushmoor School in Bedford and played his junior rugby with both Bedford Swifts and Bedford rugby union club before entering the Scholarship programme and Academy at London Broncos, where he was to return in 2012. His senior career began when he made his debut for Bradford in 2005 and was also a member of the team that lifted the World Club Challenge trophy in 2006. Son of Widnes-born Les Cook, who played for Oldham, Matt names his father and Ian Daniels his PE teacher at Rushmoor School as the biggest influences on his career while citing winning the League Leaders Shield with Castleford in 2017 as his career highlight, in the season that also saw him appear in the Grand Final. A dual-code Junior International ‘Cooky’ was also a member of the England Senior team that won the Federations Cup in 2006. His immediate ambition is to gain promotion with the Vikings while away from rugby the Liverpool fan enjoys taking his dog on long walks and is undertaking an Open University degree course in Business Management.
