Hailing from Runcorn Calum joined the Widnes Scholarship programme at the age of 14 having played his junior rugby with Halton Farnworth Hornets from the age of 8 and represented the Widnes ‘Town Team’ at Under 10 and Under 11 levels. The former pupil of Saints Peter and Paul College, who names his father as the major influence on his career to date, completed BTEC Diploma in Sport and Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence courses, and unsurprisingly cites his try-scoring senior debut against the Centurions as the highlight of his fledgling career. A graduate of the Vikings’ Academy, ‘capped’ for Ireland at U16 and U19 levels, and called up to the Irish train-on squad for the European Championships and World Cup qualifying campaign, ‘Bean’ states his ambition is to cement a regular place in the Vikings and Ireland senior squads. Away from rugby Calum is pursuing a career in Civil Engineering and is a keen supporter of Chelsea FC.
