Lewis Else To Debut widnesvikings.co.uk

8th September 2019

Lewis Else will make his debut for Widnes Vikings today, when the club take on Dewsbury Rams at the Tetley’s Stadium this afternoon.

The former Ince Rose Bridge and Wigan St Patricks junior has impressed throughout his time at the Academy when joining the club at Scholarship age.

Else is an exciting scrum half with a fantastic running game, whilst possessing the ability to organise and take a team around a rugby field.

When Else, a former St John Fisher student, appears off the bench for the Vikings this afternoon, he will become the 7th Academy player to make their debut in 2019.

Lewis Else says: “It’s a proud moment for me to be making my debut for this club, and has been years in the making in the Academy.

“There have been some dark days for me in the last couple of years with injuries and such, and this selection is a reward for the hard work that myself and the people around me have put in to get me back to this place.

“I’ve been in and around the first team, and training with the likes of Danny Craven and Tom Gilmore, and learning off those players has been great. Little things such as playing at the line, and my kicking game have all benefitted off the back of that, and hopefully I can show that for the first team.

“I’d like to thank all of the staff and physios for the help they’ve given me. Sometimes I’ve not had the best attitude around the place, and been hard to deal with on some days, but they kept faith in me. The same applies to my family, I wouldn’t be where I am without them.”

Lewis Else is proudly sponsored by Teeling Management.
