Following back-to-back away fixtures, the Vikings take on their French counterparts on home soil this weekend and are in search of a league double.

Ahead of the Vikings’ clash with Toulouse, we have compiled all of the stats, key information and team news with our in-depth match preview.

Form Guide

The Vikings will be looking to return to the form that saw them book their place in the 1895 Cup Final, following last week’s disappointing 30-10 defeat to Sheffield Eagles at the Olympic Legacy Park.

Widnes trailed 12-4 at the break after Ben Blackmore and Bradley Knowles crossed for the home side, with Ryan Ince replying with an unconverted effort.

In the second half Anthony Thackeray scored either side of Ellis Robson, who pounced on a Danny Craven kick to score his first try for the club, before Menzie Yere hammered the final nail into the Vikings’ coffin.

Toulouse gave their top two hopes a boost at the weekend, picking up a hard fought 30-22 victory over Halifax at the Shay to remain one point behind York City Knights.

Ilias Bergal starred for the French outfit, crossing for a brace of tries, while Mathieu Jussaume, Anthony Marion and Patty Vaivai were also on the scoresheet.

Last Time Out

Back in Round 2 of the Betfred Championship season, the Vikings produced a brilliant performance to defeat Toulouse 36-24 in France to continue their positive start to the campaign.

Purtill’s men headed into the changing rooms at half-time behind on the scoreboard by just two points, with Liam Hood, Ted Chapelhow and Anthony Gelling crossing for the visitors. Dean Parata scored for the hosts, while Stan Robin picked up a double before the break.

Early in the second half Jack Owens levelled the scores with a penalty goal, before a further two conversions and a Danny Craven try opened up an eight-point lead.

Ryan Ince put the Vikings in control before Robin completed his hat-trick to set up a tense finish, only for Gelling to charge over from a goal-line drop-out and seal a famous win in France with an outrageous celebration that included the corner flag.

One to Watch

Mark Kheirallah – Considered one of the best talents outside of Super League, the fullback will be a huge threat to the Vikings defence on Saturday afternoon.
