Form Guide

Widnes made it five wins in a row as they defeated Oldham in the fourth round of the Coral Challenge Cup last week, coming out on top 54-14.

Hat-tricks from Jack Owens and Owen Buckley, along with tries from Ryan Ince, Keanan Brand, Lloyd Roby and Jordan Johnstone helping the Vikings progress to the next round.

Batley ended a run of four straight defeats as they eased past amateur outfit Lock Lane, securing their place in the next round of the Challenge Cup with a 62-6 victory.

Prior to their win at the weekend, the Bulldogs were beaten by Sheffield Eagles, Bradford Bulls, Toronto Wolfpack and Toulouse Olympique.

Last Time Out

The last time these two sides met was in the Challenge Cup back in 2015, as the Bulldogs almost pulled off an upset with a second half comeback.

From the current squad, Jack Owens, MacGraff Leuluai and Chris Dean featured on that day, as the Vikings opened up a 20-6 half-time lead before Batley fought back to eventually fall to a 26-22 defeat.

On their last visit to Batley, the Vikings lost 32-12 in 2011 with Leuluai also in the squad on that day.

One to Watch

Dominic Brambani – the veteran halfback has been with the club since 2016 and has over 300 career appearances under his belt. He will look to lead the Bulldogs around the field, and could cause problems with his kicking game down the hill.

Jordan Johnstone – the Vikings hooker is in line to make his 50th career appearance on Sunday if selected.
