Money Matters honoured to sponsor Hall of Fame

18th October 2018

Widnes Vikings will be holding a Hall of Fame Celebration Dinner on Friday 26th October at the Halton Stadium, with local accountancy firm Money Matters sponsoring the event.

Martin Offiah and Kurt Sorensen will be inducted to the illustrious list at the dinner, and Money Matters owner Sharon Rotherham has spoken out about her pride in supporting the evening.

“I felt very honoured to be asked,” Sharon revealed.

“Widnes Vikings were a part of my childhood and my family history, as we were born and bred supporters for generations so I am really pleased to be a part of this.

“Supporting the club generally is exciting and taking part in a historic event such as this is amazing.”

Sharon is a former Bankfield High School pupil who founded Money Matters after picking up her qualifications in Liverpool during the 1990’s. In 2003 the company was set up in Widnes, and for the past 15 years has helped clients deal with all aspects of taxation and business growth, serving thousands of people within the town.

As a lifelong fan of the club, she feels it is important to back the club at all times and is dedicated to supporting Widnes Vikings on and off the field.

“I think it is very important for local businesses to show their support of Widnes Vikings and back the club,” Sharon continued.

“It’s not just the commercial exposure but the sense of togetherness and identity.

“The club is very important to me and my family, no matter what happens on the field. Widnes Vikings is part of the town and it’s our identity and our history.

“I am a true patriot. I believe in local causes and doing business locally to improve and protect the local economy.

“I will continue to support the club no matter what and I am very proud to be in a position to do so.”

At the event on Friday 26th October, Martin Offiah and Kurt Sorensen will be present as they are honoured with a place in the club’s Hall of Fame.

Sharon also shared her memories of the duo during their time with the Chemics, and how they helped put Widnes on the map.

“I was in my late teens when Kurt and Martin were dominating the game and I remember it being a very exciting time,” she added.

“We would go to Naughton Park to see them in action and it gave me some great memories, as they really put our town on the world map.

“We had such a good time and I even used to go when I was heavily pregnant, even though I had to stand for the 80 minutes. The atmosphere was amazing.”

On Friday 26th October, Widnes legends Kurt Sorensen and Martin Offiah will be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame, joining an illustrious list of past players.
