Widnes Vikings are proud to announce that all six of their second year Academy students have been awarded a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport.

The course is delivered in partnership with Saints Peter and Paul Sixth Form College, and has seen Tyler Jones secure a place at Liverpool John Moores University for September to study Sport and Exercise Science.

His team mates, Jake Burns, Jayden Hatton, Ben Davies, Lewis Else and Calum O’Neil also picked up their BTEC awards on Thursday morning, ensuring the course achieved a 100% pass rate. The UCAS points accrued mean they are all eligible to apply for university and apprenticeships, opening doors to a number of higher education opportunities due to their success.

All 12 first year Academy students also passed their first year with flying colours, highlighting the success of the course which aims to ensure they are set for the next stage of their career.

Academy Education Manager, Kurtis Marsh, commented: “I’m extremely proud of the lads for getting the results they deserved today.

“All six of our second year Academy students have put the effort in throughout the entirety of the course and it has all paid off today. It’s great to see Tyler Jones secure his place at Liverpool John Moores University, and I’m sure he will continue his academic success over the next three years.

“I’d like to congratulate our 12 first year Academy students too, who all passed their first year today, and also thank Saints Peter and Paul for their support in the delivery of the course.”
