At Widnes Vikings’ recent clash with Castleford Tigers, member of the Women’s Team held a bucket collection for Warrington and Halton Hospitals Charity and raised £417.56.

Supporters of both Clubs donated generously to the cause, which will go towards funding a new play area for patients of Warrington Hospital’s Children’s Ward to ensure their hospital visits are more enjoyable.

On Wednesday afternoon, Olivia Barnard, Hannah Quirk, Jenny Moss and Anna Hutchins visited the hospital to present the collection and meet the staff and patients of their Children’s Ward.

They were given a tour of the ward, including the current play-area, with work scheduled to begin in September.

The Making Waves appeal will see the nautical theme of the Children’s Ward continue outside with a Pirate Ship being the main feature of the all-weather play area.

Vikings Women’s team member, Hannah Quirk, commented: “It was great to visit Warrington Hospital and have an insight into where the money we raised is going.

“We’re sure the children are going to really enjoy the new play area, and it is important that their stay in the ward is as stress-free as possible.

“The plans for the area look amazing and we can’t wait to come back and see the finished product.”

A huge thanks to both Widnes Vikings and Castleford Tigers supporters for donating to this fantastic cause.
