Gubb: "I came here to win"

6th August 2018

Widnes Vikings' newest recruit, Charlie Gubb, says that he can't wait to take to the field in front of the club's supporters ahead of his potential debut against London Broncos on Thursday night.

The former New Zealand Warriors and Canberra Raiders front rower arrived in the country on Friday afternoon, and has already got stuck into training sessions with the first team squad before the Club's Super 8s, The Qualifiers campaign.

We caught up with Charlie to get his thoughts on how he is settling in with the group, and what we wants to achieve whilst with the Vikings...

On settling in at the Club - “It’s been good. The boys have been really welcoming. The training has been really intense, and it’s been really good and to a high standard. There’s not many boys injured at the moment and there’s a lot of talent on the pitch.”

On joining the Club ahead of the Super 8s - “I came here to win. I know we haven’t won in a while, but it’s my goal to win games. We want to win all of our games, so we can’t afford to lose to anyone around us. I know we have to put our best performance every week.”

On playing in front of our fans - “I can’t wait. Even when I was waiting for my visa, I was excited to come over and play and see what it was all about. Not only that, but I want to put my best effort in and testing myself against people over here.”

The Vikings are offering fantastic ticket packages for both our home and away fixtures in The Qualifiers. Please click here for full ticket information...
