A Jayden Hatton hat trick was the highlight of a good performance which saw the U19s register their fourth successive win with a 38-18 victory.

It was London who started the game better and Widnes struggled to cross the half way line in the early exchanges. When they did, they struggled to attack with any real purpose and it was an error just 30 metres from the try line that saw London open the scoring.

A poor pass went to ground and lively stand off Oliver Leyland picked up the ball to go 70 metres for a try under the posts. Rhys Joel added the extras.

As often happens, the scoring team make an error from the restart and when London knocked on, Widnes took full advantage. Sam Freeman went close before Calum O'Neill barged over and when Freeman kicked the conversion, it was 6-6.

Leyland continued to cause Widnes problems as London threatened to score again but in the last 10 minutes of the half Widnes took control. A lovely Chris Wilson pass saw Brad Calland run a great line to score and then it was Calland who turned provider when he sent Ben Davies in from 45 metres.  With Freeman converting both tries, Widnes held a satisfying 18-6 half time lead.

Widnes had already been guilty of a couple of high tackles, and when Calum O'Neill was penalised for another, he was shown the yellow card and Widnes were down to 12 men only three minutes into the second half.

London wasted no time in pressing home their advantage and a minute later scored a try when Jacob Jones weaved through the defence. Joel converted and London had the start to the half they wanted.

However, they produced an error from the kick off again and a goal line drop out followed. Sam Freeman, who had an excellent game, found Jayden Hatton and the centre touched down to make it 22-12, with Freeman converting.

Another London error, deep in their own half led to Hatton grabbing his second, and when the centre twisted and turned in a tackle over the line, he was able to put the ball down for his hat trick. Freeman, who was kicking superbly, converted both efforts and at 36-12 Widnes held a commanding lead.

London briefly rallied and Joel crossed for their third try which he converted. Right on the final whistle, Widnes received a penalty in front of the posts and Freeman added his seventh successful kick to complete the scoring.
