Following the 2018 Betfred Super League fixtures being released, the Vikings are pleased to announce their 2017/18 Community Fixtures too!

Recently taking place on a Tuesday and Friday evening, the programmes will now run consecutively on Mondays and Tuesdays commencing from Monday 6th November and Tuesday 7th November. 

Liam Clark, Head of Education, says: “As a community department, we recognised that some many people would find it easier to get involved with our sessions earlier in the week. We're delighted to relaunch our programmes on Mondays and Tuesdays, to help meet that demand.,” he said.

“There is a range of programmes to suit the whole family, and we hope that people from across Halton can come down and have fun with us here eveery week."

The community programmes are as follows:

Monday

4:30 – 5:30 – Future Stars Y1/2/3/4/5/6  – Cost £2

Future Stars gives boys and girls of primary school age the opportunity to train like their heroes, working with the Vikings award-winning community coaching team.

6:00 – 7:00 – Vikings Touch Rugby 9’s – Cost £2

Teams can go head-to-head in fun and friendly games of touch Rugby League. Teams are invited to register 9-person teams into the competition. Individuals who want to play are also welcome to join in the fun too, playing for our ’Exiles’ side.

6:00 – 7:00 – Widnes Vikings Ladies - Cost Free

We are looking to recruit players who want to be founder members to the Club, and have the drive and passion to compete and make the Vikings Women’s side a competitive side. In return, we will offer excellent coaching and training facilities, based at the Halton Stadium, utilising the i-Pitch and Delivered Health Solutions Performance Centre to build towards the new 2018 season.

Tuesday

4:30 – 5:30 – Vikings Girls (KS3) & Vikings Girls Development Squad - Free

These programmes gives high school and school leaving aged girls the opportunity to enjoy taking part in Rugby League games and training drills. Taking place at the Halton Stadium every Tuesday night, participants will develop their rugby skills, whilst making new friends.

5:00 – 6:00 – Walking Rugby - Free

People over the age of 50 have the opportunity to play the game on the Halton Stadium i-Pitch for free. The programme is perfect for people who want to stay healthy and carry on playing the game they love. Walking Rugby is just the like the real sport, but without running or full contact tackling. This means it's accessible to people of all fitness levels and great fun, whether you come alone or with friends.

5:00 – 6:00 – Player - Free

The programme, which takes place at the Halton Stadium, is specially designed to promote mental fitness and wellbeing. It is supported by the team at Mind Halton. Participants have the opportunity to train alongside the Vikings award-winning community coaches, building their physical fitness with fun and accessible exercise programmes.

6:30 – 8:00 – Offload - Free

The Offload programme is free and open to all men aged between 16-65. Sessions have been described as "truly life changing" and "a brilliant experience" by participants. Offload is led by former Rugby League players and other members of the Rugby League community, including coaches and referees. They share their experiences of managing the stresses of difficult moments in their lives, and provide vital advice on how to stay mentally resilient.

6:45 – 7:30 – Vikings Boot Camp - £2

Taking place at the Halton Stadium every Tuesday evening, sessions cost just £2 per person. Not only will attendees have the opportunity to train in the Delivered Health Solutions Performance Centre with the support of the Vikings specialist coaching team, they will also receive lifestyle advice to improve their overall health and wellbeing.
