Two Youth Players Gain International Honours

6th September 2017

Two of Widnes Vikings’ young players gained international honours on Saturday, as Wales U16s hosted England Youth at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Jacob Dugdale, who plays for Wigan St Judes and attends Standish High School, came off the bench early for England and impressed throughout his long stint at hooker.

Billy Glover, a former Halton Farnworth Hornets player and Wade Deacon student, started the game at centre. He delivered in a Man of the Match performance as Wales recorded an 18-10 victory, the first ever win by Wales over England at that level.

Widnes Vikings U16s Head Coach Ryan O’Brien says: “It was an extremely proud moment to witness two of our players perform so well on the international stage.

“Both players are fully deserving of their recognition and were a credit to our Club, their families, community clubs and schools on Saturday.

“We’re looking forward to seeing them develop further with us, following their experience at that level.”
