Tonight, Widnes Vikings will officially rename the North Stand after Pat Price, the Club’s greatest supporter, at the derby fixture against Warrington Wolves. In the video above, watch Dave Rolt, Widnes Vikings Head of Commercial, surprise Pat’s family with this special news.

Dave Rolt discusses the celebration:

“Everyone connected with Widnes Vikings fondly remembers Pat and her passion for the Club. She dedicated her life to her team, and was unwavering in her passion and support.

In our many conversations about Pat’s legacy here, we’ve discussed doing something special to celebrate the impact that she made had on our great club. As we approached this derby fixture, we realised that this could be the perfect moment to celebrate her life, as in 2014 both Widnes Vikings and Warrington Wolves united to pay tribute to Pat, after her passing.

At that game, a group of Widnes Vikings supporters made a tremendous gesture by unveiling a ‘Pat Price Stand’ banner in the North Stand. It was an obvious decision to make this unofficial name a permanent one, and to adorn the stadium with iconic photographs of Pat, as well as a statement that summed up her life – ‘Widnes ‘Til I Die’.

A lot of hard work has gone into this project in recent weeks and we hope that supporters feel proud of this gesture. It’s been fantastic to see what this means to Pat’s sister, brother-in-law and son, as well as the many supporters whose life she touched. On behalf of Widnes Vikings, I’d like to thank Abbi Signs and Ste Jones from RL Pix for their support in making this ambition a reality.

Tonight’s game against Warrington Wolves will be a special one. Pat’s sister, Joan, will lead the team out and there will be a minute’s applause around 7.45pm, which I am sure both sets of supporters will passionately support. I hope this is a special celebration for a very special person.”
