Wigan Warriors Away Ticket Announcement widnesvikings.co.uk

19th June 2017

Widnes Vikings CEO, James Rule, updates supporters on the upcoming Wigan Warriors away fixture:

Widnes Vikings' Stronghold Members are the heart of the Club and integral to all that we do. Therefore, when we were faced with little choice but to accommodate a last minute reversal of February's Betfred Super League Round 2 away fixture against Wigan Warriors, we were bitterly disappointed to experience a situation where a number of Members were significantly inconvenienced.

Behind the scenes, we have been working hard to explore options to ensure that the Club can make a gesture to its Members in some way. Now that the return leg of this fixture has been confirmed to take place on Sunday 2nd July, 3PM kick off, at the DW Stadium, I am able to update you on these plans.

I am pleased to confirm that every supporter with a full 2017 Stronghold Membership will receive a complimentary ticket to the game. Wigan Warriors have made a kind gesture of providing 500 complimentary  tickets to be allocated to Stronghold Members who were unable to attend the fixture. However, we recognise that many people who were able to attend the game and support the team were equally inconvenienced, and therefore the Vikings  would like to increase this offer and extend entry to all 2017 full Stronghold Members.

Whilst I understand that the short turnaround of the fixture was challenging to Members and staff alike, it was the right decision to ensure that the game took place as scheduled. Having experienced a season of unprecedented injuries and witnessed the impact of two double header weekends, the Club's priority is primarily player welfare and to ensure that we give the team the best opportunity to perform with adequate recovery time.

2017 Full Junior Members will be able to redeem their free junior ticket for this fixture as part of their regular Membership package. Additionally, the Club will be hosting an exclusive open training session for our full Junior Members, incorporating a meet and greet session with the Vikings first team stars. This event will take place on a Saturday or Sunday prior to the conclusion of the 2017 campaign and further details will be released when the Super 8's fixtures are announced in late July.

Finally, I'd like to once again thank everyone who has supported the Club in this matter. The Club appreciate the efforts of everyone who was able to attend the home fixture and helped to deliver the game in such tight timescales.

The support on the night was magnificent and we should all be extremely proud of that. I am also tremendously grateful for the patience of our Members, both those who missed out on the game and those who attended but may have had to make alternative work or personal commitments.

I hope that this offer will re-iterate the importance of the Clubs Membership platform and to see you all at the DW Stadium to cheer on the team.

We look forward to the Vikings taking a fantastic crowd to this fixture.

James Rule

CEO, Widnes Vikings
