Widnes Vikings are pleased to announce that Joe Connor has joined the club’s Community team on a voluntary basis.

The 15 year-old, who is a huge Vikings supporter, will work with the Vikings Sport Foundation on a Friday afternoon on a range of projects offering support to staff.

Joe and his family were welcomed to the club on Wednesday afternoon by community staff members Liam Clark and Dan Scott, who gave them a tour of the stadium before letting him get a taste of what it felt like to be on the Halton Stadium I-Pitch.

After following in the footsteps of the Vikings first team squad and playing rugby at the Halton Stadium, Joe was presented with his own community clothes to wear during his time with the club.

Joe, who has Autism, has already expressed his delight at being able to work for the club.

“I am very excited to be joining the Vikings,” he said.

“I am a big fan of Widnes, my favourite player is Corey Thompson and I'm excited to get started on Friday afternoons.”

Liam Clark, Education Officer at Widnes Vikings, says he is looking forward to welcoming Joe to the club on Friday afternoons.

"We'd like to welcome Joe to Widnes Vikings and thank him for coming and getting involved,” he said.

"He will offer support for us on a range of initiatives, starting with the Girls Satellite Club on Friday, and we hope that Joe thoroughly enjoys his time with the club."
