What Is The Course?

The Vikings Learning Centre offer a unique NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Sport and Employability Skills to school leavers.

This brilliant course will enable you to develop the key skills to work or study in sport, as well as build a foundation to gain future employment. You will also have the opportunity to gain either a GCSE or Functional Skills qualification in English or Maths.

Who Is It For?

The course is suited for young adults, aged 16-18, who are looking to make their first career steps after High School or to re-enter education.  

What Does The Course Offer?

You will gain an accredited qualification (NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Sport & Employability Skills).

Sport:
You will learn about:
• The fundamental skills for sports coaching
• Exercise and its physical benefits
• You will also enjoy taking part in sports and exercise sessions, which will be tailored to your abilities.

Employability Skills:
This course will help you to:
• Develop work experience
• Create a CV
• Prepare for job interviews
• Apply for work
• Manage your finances

Maths and English:
You can also build your skills in Maths and English, if necessary, by gaining either a GCSE or Functional Skills qualification in the subjects. This is an important requirement for many jobs and will help improve your future career prospects.

Key Information

• The course runs from 30th October – 20th June 2018.
• It takes place every Monday – Wednesday at the Halton Stadium, Widnes.
• A free bus pass is available* (subject to eligibility).
• You will receive £5 per day, and there will be an opportunity to apply for a Riverside College Student Bursary.
