Born in St Helens Sam played his junior rugby for Shevington Sharks, joining the Warrington Scholarship programme at the age of 15, progressing through the ranks to represent England U18s in their victory against Australia. Acknowledging the support of his family as the major influence on his career Sam names his career highlights so far as his senior debut against Wigan in 2015 and his appearance in the 2016 Grand Final against the same opponents. Having also played for Rochdale on Dual Registration terms Sam's Vikings' debut came in the 2017 'Magic' fixture before finishing the season on loan with London Broncos. Setting his sights on gaining senior international honours Sam returned to Widnes on a 2-year deal in 2018, while away from rugby he enjoys surfing and is a keen supporter Liverpool FC and the NFL's Miami Dolphins.
