Beginning his career with Newport Titans Cardiff-born Lloyd represented his country at Under-18 and Student levels before making his Senior debut against Ireland in 2009, just four months after making his first senior appearance for Crusaders. Cementing his place in the Welsh national team in 2010, while turning out on a regular basis for South Wales Scorpions, he collected the RLIF ‘International Player of the Year’ award for Wales in 2011. Lloyd claimed the drop-goal that secured the nail-biting win against Wigan in 2012 but suffered a season-ending knee injury in May. He returned from an eight week injury-enforced absence in 2013 to represent Wales in the World Cup, contributing a try and five goals. Career milestones of 100 matches and 200 points came in 2014 before chalking up his 100th Super League appearance for Widnes in 2016 and being a key member of the Wales that qualified for the World Cup in 2017.
