Roby renews Vikings contract

Recent Widnes Vikings debutant, Lloyd Roby, has renewed his contact with the Club until the end of the 2019 season.

Lloyd, 18, made his first team debut for the Vikings in the recent Challenge Cup fixture against Warrington Wolves.

He joined the Club at the age of 14 and has represented every stage of the Vikings development pathway.Lloyd joined the Vikings from Rylands Sharks, where he played the majority of his community rugby league. He also represented Crosfields ARLFC.

Lloyd Roby says: "I'm pleased to have committed to Widnes Vikings. I've been here from the age of 14 and the Club have been fantastic in supporting my development. This is a great environment, with a close-knit team of coaches and players, so it's where I want to be."

He adds, "I'd like to thank everyone who has supported my development, including Phil Finney, Brett Hodgson, Denis Betts, and everyone who assists the Academy and first-team. I recently made my debut for the Vikings, which was an incredible experience. I'll be working hard to ensure that I get lots more opportunities to represent the Vikings in the seasons ahead."

Brett Hodgson, Head Coach of Widnes Vikings Under 19s, says: "We are pleased that Lloyd has committed his future to the Vikings. Lloyd has progressed superbly in recent seasons and is an outstanding player for his age. He has great utility value and a fantastic knowledge of the game."

He adds, "Lloyd handled himself well in his recent debut and this shows that he has a real future at Super League level."
