Ainscough makes a break

Tuesday 23rd February 2010

Ainscough makes a break Story in brief:

On the strength of his performances for the Widnes Vikings, Wigan Warriors have today confirmed that they have recalled the services of Shaun Ainscough, who has returned to the DW Stadium with immediate effect.

The 20 year-old made three First Team appearances for the Vikings following his dual-registration signing and scored four tries over this period, including a last minute winner in the recent Northern Rail Cup game against Barrow Raiders at The Stobart Stadium Halton.

Commenting on his time spent at the club, Widnes' Sporting Director, Terry O'Connor said, "It goes without saying that we would like to thank both the Wigan Warriors and St. Helens for their continued help and support in enabling these dual registration signings to happen between our three clubs, and although we're disappointed to lose the services of such a quality young player, fingers crossed, it won't be the last time we see Shaun in a Vikings shirt in 2010!"

Likewise, Head Coach, Paul Cullen added, "Shaun has really enjoyed his time at the Vikings and he has played exceptionally well for us and he would never have been offered that opportunity had the dual-registration system not been in place, and on the strength of his performances for the Vikings he's earned a recall back to Super League and we're delighted with that, as it also dovetails very nicely for us because we now have several of our own players either ready or very close to a return from injury, which in itself is another example of how this new system is a win-win situation for all parties!"
